"Victim" books

Post  phoenix on Sun May 10, 2009 1:26 am

There's a huge market of books which seemed to start with "A Child Called It" and are autobiographies of tragic childhoods.

What's your opinion of this genre?

Not something I choose to read but I can see how it can be cathartic to those who've been through a similar experience to read how someone else survived it. I can also see that there's a type of person who likes to read about other people's misery but I don't understand that I have to admit.

I think it's an utterly dreadful genre. Really vile.
